It has been stated that a baby was born in freezing cold on a pavement as the attempts to call help by the baby’s mother went in vain. The buzzer which was on the door of the maternity unit was unheard by staff and the lady was forced to give birth out in open.
It all happened on the doorstep of Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy, Fife,
And the mother traumatised Lisa McNeil delivered her baby boy on one of the coldest nights of the year while waiting for help to arrive.
She was forced to get down on her fours and give birth in front of passers-by as she had no other option and her mother 46-year-old Karen Barnes used a cardigan to help the baby place his head on it else it would have hit the concrete.
The temperature was -4C and Jackson who was born is doing well despite what happened.
According to the family, they had to wait for about six minutes and all this while they kept pressing the buzzer on the door but when no one came and Lisa could not control, she had to give birth herself.
According to hospital bosses, it was not six minutes but the help was with Lisa within three minutes and 49 seconds and the video record states this.
