Chocolate cuts down heart problems

If chocolate is what you always craved for then you are in for a surprise as research has stated that chocolate can actually be beneficial for health.

A recent research has stated that chocolate can be good for you when it comes to your heart.

A study by the University of East Anglia, UEA, stated that women who are suffering from type 2 diabetes can gain benefits out of chocolate as it has been found to reduce the risk of heart disease in such women.

Anything that contains flavonoid are good for women with type 2 diabetes as they help in reducing the risk of heart disease.

A 12-month trial was conducted by researchers and it was concluded that protection is offered by flavonoid to those who are more prone to cardiovascular events. Diabetes can also be managed if flavonoid rich diet is consumed on a regular basis.

Foods like tea, berries, cocoa contain flavonoids but researchers have also warned that the research does not mean that women should gorge on chocolates as commercially available chocolate does not contain the percentage of cocoa rich chocolates that the trial participants were given and it can add to extra weight as well.

Dr Ketan Dhatariya, one of the researchers, said, "We are not saying that people with diabetes should be eating lots of chocolate, but that foods that are rich in flavonoids can potentially reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes."
